“I highly recommend to choose Solaroo as your solar installer. The whole process took only 2 months, starting from the day I signed the contract until the end of getting the Solar ready to use. Solaroo has responsible and profession team to handle job well. Do make sure you choose micro inverter and not string Inverter which are more stable and durable.”

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
You do not need to apply on your own. The application must be submitted by a certified solar installer (like Solaroo) on your behalf to Sarawak Energy. The installer will manage the system design, NEM application, documentation, and approval process.
Here’s how it works:
1. First, check your eligibility by providing basic details such as your monthly electricity bill and property type.
2. Next, a site assessment and system design will be carried out to confirm your solar capacity and suitability.
3. Once confirmed, your installer will prepare and submit the NEM application and subsidy documents to the relevant Sarawak authorities and utility provider.
4. After approval, the solar system will be installed, tested, and officially connected to the grid under the NEM program.
You don’t need to apply on your own — a qualified solar provider like us will manage the process and guide you every step of the way. WhatsApp us to find out more.
The Sarawak Solar NEM Subsidy is a financial incentive introduced by Sarawak Energy to help domestic customers reduce the upfront cost of installing rooftop solar PV systems. It supports long-term electricity savings and Sarawak’s renewable energy goals. Click to read full article by Sarawak Energy.
Under the NEM scheme, your solar PV system generates electricity for your home. Any excess electricity is exported to the grid and credited to your electricity bill, helping to lower your monthly electricity costs.
Here are the criteria to be eligible for NEM:
1. The applicant must be a consumer connected to SEB’s grid system.
2. The applicant must not have outstanding electricity bills for more than 2 months, and must not have any pending or past meter-tampering cases.
3. The generation resource must be solar PV only. Battery energy storage is not allowed under the current scheme.
4. For the subsidy scheme (applicable to domestic / landed residential properties under the Domestic Tariff), additional criteria apply:
The installation must be a new installation (households with pre-existing solar PV systems are excluded).
5. One installation only per account owner is allowed.
The subsidy is offered on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to quota availability.
The subsidy amount depends on your solar system size:
1. RM12,000 for systems above 6 to 50 kWac
2. RM10,000 for systems above 3.5 to 6 kWac
3. RM8,000 for systems from 2 to 3.5 kWac

Yes, but the amount will be lower. You will still pay for any extra energy drawn from the grid.
Currently not allowed under the standard NEM scheme. Only solar PV systems without battery storage are eligible.
If you want backup power, you will need a separate off-grid system (not connected under NEM).
You may transfer ownership of the solar system and NEM account to the new house owner, subject to SESCO/SEB approval.
Alternatively, you may uninstall and reinstall the system at your new home, but this will require a new NEM application.
This may be caused by shading, dirt on panels, inverter issues, or weather conditions. We can check your system remotely (if monitoring is enabled).
RM500 for single-phase; RM1000 for three-phase.
You will get notified via email. Please ensure the email address submitted during registration is correct. The bank account name must match the SESCO account owner’s name to avoid rejection.
The subsidy is limited to one installation per customer (SESCO contract account owner). The customer is eligible to install NEM for multiple houses but eligible to receive subsidy for one installation only.
No, SESCO does not pay cash. Instead, you get credits on your bill for the extra energy you export – these credits will be carried forward next month and used to offset the electricity you draw from the grid later.
It can be kept active for 2 years.
1. Check with your SEB electrical contractor during renovation / electricity supply submission.
2. Contractor submits Form AC01, which states the approved maximum demand).
3. This figure will be used as reference for solar system sizing.
SEB allows the installed solar system capacity to cover up to a maximum of 75% of the customer’s average electricity consumption based on the past 3 months’ bills.
A higher system capacity may be approved only with proper justification and supporting calculations, such as:
1. Extended holiday or business travel – submission of earlier SEB bills showing higher usage
2. New electric vehicle (EV) with wallbox – submission of EV purchase or wallbox installation receipts
Without valid justification, SEB reserves the right to request system downsizing in the future if electricity usage remains consistently low.
1. PV Meter Charges: These are one-time connection charges, not refundable deposits. The charges may vary depending on the housing phase.
2. Collateral Deposit: This amount is refundable only upon termination of the solar/NEM account.
3. Billing: Both charges will be billed directly by SEB and will appear in your SEB electricity bill.
Solar PV Systems have been in the market for more than 20 years; and Solaroo is using the SAFEST solar PV system in town right now, due to it being a naturally designed low DC voltage system.
Solaroo firmly believes in using a low-DC micro-inverter system to ensure low voltage for your home.
Solaroo is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pekat Group Berhad, listed on Bursa Malaysia. As a group, Pekat has been invested in solar PV systems and lightning protection over the past 26 years.
No, it largely depends on the weather; if it is sunny, it will perform better, otherwise if rainy. Your savings will also largely depend on your monthly usage. Our estimations uses an average whole-year generation for illustration.
Yes! Due to the modular design micro-inverter system we have, you can increase the number of panels subject to your monthly usage and roof space availability.
It is recommended to sell the house with the solar PV system and transfer ownership. However, in the event that we really need to move the solar PV system, it can be done but there will be a cost.
Yes! Solaroo has a modular design. If you would like to upgrade 2 years later, as long as there is space on the roof, it is possible!
It rarely happens as all necessary checks will be done before installation. However, in an event which it happens, Solaroo will do any necessary repairs so long the damage is caused by our solar installation and is within the defect liability period.
No. Because our solar systems are connected back to the SEB grid, the solar PV system will shut off in the event of a blackout.
No. For residential solar PV systems, we will assist you to apply under the Sarawak Net Energy Metering (NEM) policy. Under this policy, you will be able to export any unused solar generation during the dayback to the grid. At the end of every month, SEB will offset your exported solar energy against your total import from the grid.
Our panel weight is 33kg and the dimension is about 2.3m x 1.15m which is 2.7m2. The distributed load per panel is about 11kg/m2 and it’s allowable for good condition roof.
Solaroo is a one-stop clean energy solution provider and is wholly owned subsidiary of Pekat Group Berhad with over 26 years of engineering experience.
A string inverter uses one central unit to convert power from all solar panels, making it more affordable but less efficient if one panel is shaded or underperforms. A microinverter, installed on each panel, allows panels to work independently, delivering higher energy output, better safety, and panel-level monitoring—especially beneficial for homes with shading or complex roofs.
